Thinking. And thinking.

I've been meditating over this illustration.I like it but I just don't love it. It's a bit too dark, emotionally. And the palette is a bit too dull. It lacks a certain levity that I want to maintain throughout the book. So I've been thinking and thinking. And spreading the earlier pages out on my studio floor:

    Well, I LOVE it! It has a good dollop of KW humor, I think! But trust your instincts. Can't wait to BUY this book!!

    Marcus is surrounded by darkness~that's the nature of his life. Here he looks pensive...his mouth suggests he is contemplating something, with some bright ideas floating in the background..but then I don't know the script for this illustration :)

    Larien, I like your interpretation! The script for that image is: "But it made him very dizzy." :)
